Since it is supposed to be windows that hangs/ crashes / slows down .. and not because of hardware.?

What is different in dell and other manufacturers? The parts are same (Intel/amd, chipset, wifi , hdd, ….)
HP, IBM, Sony, Fujitsu, gateway, Acer, Toshiba..,

All have the same Motherboard, Chipset, Processor, graphics, wireless, and probably harddisk and a different LCD.

Hey everyone had sony battries for a start.

Sony Vaio and Gateway offer very good quality laptops, but Dell seems to attract the media attention most, so they are able to market themselves successfully. What do you think?

I currently own a Compaq laptop. I mostly use it just for homework, going online, and listening to music. I’m not tech savvy or anything. I just mostly use it for the basics. I don’t play games or anything like that on it. Would a Sony laptop or a Dell laptop be better for me? I can spend up to maybe $1500. Which laptop is of better quality, will last longer, performs better, etc?

I plan to wipe the laptop and install Linux and Vista without all the dell software, so would dell hardware do well for light gaming, 3D graphics and word processing?

I mean, is there an advantage getting a Sony Vaio or a Toshiba over a Dell? From what i see they’re including the same processors and graphic cards, and the RAM shouldn’t really matter, right? Is there any clear reason why I should put a couple extra hundred dollars into a same speced laptop other than fashion?
